For the first five years of my life, the world was essentially a silent movie. A relentless streak of childhood ear infections meant I didn’t truly hear anything until I was nearly school-aged. Because reading and hearing are basically best friends, I spent the next two decades treating books like an avoidable chore. That sophomore year book report? Let’s just say Cliff’s Notes and I were on a first-name basis.

Everything changed in my mid-twenties when I tried to be the 'Cool Reading Mom.' I started reading to my children, hoping to spark a flame. Ironically, my kids inherited just enough of my stubbornness to decide reading wasn't for them—but in trying to convince them, I accidentally fell in love myself. I went from avoiding books to never being seen without one.

Eventually, I decided to see if I could build a world of my own. I’m currently querying the first book of my debut trilogy while putting the finishing touches on the third. My path here has been anything but a straight line; I’ve been a Chicagoan, a Nebraskan, a Utahn, and a Texan. I’ve owned a custom bakery and served on a board of directors, but every detour led me to my husband, my four children, and a life lived right next door to the most magical place on earth.
